Rarity indicates the quality of an item, as well as determines the strength of stats that the item has. There are a total of 6 rarity tiers in Cube World, each having an associated color. Rarity tiers are also indicated by a certain number of stars under an item's name if the corresponding option is turned on in the Options menu. Buying and selling prices of items also depend on their rarity.

An item's stats are roughly doubled with each increasing tier of rarity, making Legendary items exponentially more powerful than Common items. Higher rarity items are dropped by defeating higher tier enemies or completing higher difficulty objectives. Enemies and objectives usually drop items with the rarity that corresponds to their difficulty tier, but they can also drop higher or lower rarity items as well. For example, a Legendary tier enemy might drop an Epic item, and in reverse, an Epic tier enemy might also drop a Legendary item.

Item Name Affixes[ | ]

Each tier of rarity has several affixes which are randomized from a list, for example "Artless" denotes a Common-tier item, while "Polished" can denote either Rare or Epic tier item. As such, the affixes are not necessarily exclusive to just one tier. Epic and Legendary tier items always generate with a name in the randomized affix, such as "Polished Iron Dagger of Xemi" or "Legendary Iron Shield of Kiba".
